On February 28th 2023 SMFR personal responded to a reported train derailment in the rear of the 7200 block of 16th Street East.  The initial response consisted of 3 Engines, Hazmat Squad, Battalion and Hazmat Captain.  6 rail cars were found overturned.  5 cars were carrying drywall and the 6th had approximately 30,000 gallons of liquid propane.  Our team was able to assess that the propane car was not leaking, this was verified with instrument on the ground and from the aerial drone.   Crews maintained constant monitoring of the scene as the Seminole Gulf Railroad worked to clear and rebuild the track.  Crews later returned to the scene on March 2nd to ensure the safety of contractors and the public as the propane car was up-righted on the newly rebuilt track.
