To kick off this year’s Fire Prevention Week, the Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District hosted an Open House on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Fire Station #3 located at 7611 Prospect Road. Our Open House started at 10:00 a.m. and ended at 2:00 p.m. and hosted a series of events in support of this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign theme, “Look.Listen.Learn.” This year over 335 citizens attended, about 150 more than last year. During this time period District personnel demonstrated various Fire, Hazardous Materials and EMS apparatus, provided live demonstrations with various lifesaving equipment, smoke alarm demonstrations in our safety house, and free educational material over fire and life safety tips. Special “Thanks” to the Division of Forestry, Florida Wildlife Commission, Manatee County Search and Rescue Team, Safe Kids Coalition, Manatee County EMS Community Paramedicine, Manatee County Public Safety Emergency Communication Center, West Coast – Southern Medical Ambulance Service and to the employees of Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District for making this year’s Open House a HUGE success.
