Back on September 9th, 2019, Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District and Manatee County EMS responded to a patient in labor. Shortly after our arrival the patient gave birth to a baby girl. FF/EMT Jerry Bennett was at the right spot with his hands to catch the baby as the mother gave birth. Both the mom and the baby were in great health and were transported to the hospital. Lt./EMT Bonds, FF/EMT Jerry Bennett and FF/EMT Brian Craycraft received the Genesis Award from Manatee County EMS.
On December 5, 2019, FF/EMT Kiel Duquette, FF/EMT Tim Keusch, FF/EMT Bernadette Kenniff and Captain/Paramedic Bobby Thayer and Manatee County EMS Medic 7 responded to 8155 25th Street Ct. East for a cardiac arrest patient. Upon their arrival they found a patient without a pulse and not breathing with by-stander CPR being performed. Our personnel immediately took over BLS and assisted EMS with ALS and shortly after restored pulses on this patient. This patient was transported and a few days later was released from the hospital with no neurological issues. FF/EMT Kiel Duquette, FF/EMT Tim Keusch, FF/EMT Bernadette Kenniff and Captain/Paramedic Bobby Thayer received the Phoenix Award from Manatee County EMS.
On December 21, 2019, Lt./EMT Brian Hodges, FF/EMT Steve Gibson and FF/EMT Brittan Williams along with Medic 7 responded to a childbirth in a car at the Sarasota-Manatee County line (University Parkway and US-301). Sarasota County Fire Department also responded. When everyone arrived on scene, they found that mom already delivered in the car, our personnel assisted in clamping and cutting the cord and BLS procedures. Sarasota County Fire Department arrived and provided care for the baby. Both the mother and baby were transported in great condition to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Lt./EMT Brian Hodges, FF/EMT Steve Gibson and FF/EMT Brittan Williams and Sarasota County Fire Department received the Genesis Award from Manatee County EMS.
