On February 12th and 13th, 2018, Southern Manatee hosted a VFIS Instructor class for Emergency Vehicle Operations. Members of Orlando Fire Rescue, Sarasota / Bradenton Airport, Sarasota County Fire Department, and the Sun City Rescue Squad all attended this 2 day training course. Our District is proud to have a strong business partnership with VFIS, and we are strongly committed to producing the safest drivers of our apparatus.
Southern Manatee Fire Rescue personnel are required to annually certify as drivers on all apparatus types of the District and to maintain proficiency through practical driving skills testing. In addition to actual driving of all apparatus, personnel are also run through various driving scenarios in our Driving Simulator.
