On Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10:00 to 2:00, the Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District held their 2nd Annual Open House to kick off the Start of Fire Prevention Week. The District conducted various Fire, Hazardous Materials and EMS demonstrations and had life-saving equipment on display. Our Hazardous Materials Team gave live demonstrations of our Drone, which was a big hit with everyone. Additionally there were smoke alarm demonstrations in our safety house, and free educational material over fire and life safety tips. The Division of Forestry, Florida Wildlife Commission, Manatee County Sheriff Crime unit, Manatee County Community Paramedicine and Safe Kids participated in our event in providing education to the public over safety tips. We had over 200 citizens attend our Open House during this four (4) hour event.
