At 7:50 PM on January 22, 2017 Manatee County was placed under a Tornado Warning and shortly after this warning around 8:00 P.M. a line of severe weather and strong winds hit our area and did cause damage to a mobile home located in the Casa Loma Mobile Home Park. Engine 311 and Engine 312 responded to the Casa Loma Mobile Home Park and when they arrived on scene found a double-wide mobile home with its roof partial detached.

Since more weather was going to be moving through the area until early Monday morning, Southern Manatee Firefighters secured the damaged section to prevent it from further damaging the mobile home as well as secured the electricity to this mobile home.

Winds were reported to be gusting over 60 mph’s when this damaged occurred. Prior to this damage occurring a water spout came ashore off the Lido/Longboat Key area and traveled towards the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport.

Manatee County remained under a Tornado watch until Monday, January 23, 2017 as we continued through the night and early morning hours with much needed rain and gusty winds continued.
