Last year, during the month of August, SMFR personnel participated in a district wide Firefighter Cancer Awareness campaign. With the help of our fellow fire districts, Local 2546, and SMFR we raised over $6,000.00 for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. So, to all that participated last year; thank you.
This year, we will be participating in the same campaign for the month of August. The blue cancer awareness t-shirts (see attachment) will be worn to bring awareness to the public of the current struggle with cancer in the fire service. Shirts will be sold for $15.00 each for cotton blend and $20.00 each for dry fit. The proceeds will be going to cancer research for firefighters and first responders. Preferred payment is check or money order made out to SMFR Benevolent. Payment is needed when shirts are delivered and/or picked up.
