PUBLIC MEETING HELD DURING PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY DUE TO COVID-19
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners (“Board”) of the Southern Manatee Fire & Rescue District (“District”) will hold Emergency Meetings of the Board of Commissioners every Thursday at 3:30 pm starting Thursday, April 2, 2020, until Manatee County’s Emergency Resolution R-20-041 is rescinded. The meetings will be conducted by video and audio tele-conferencing pursuant to Executive Orders 20-52 and 20-69 issued by Governor DeSantis on March 9, 2020, and March 20, 2020, respectively, and pursuant to Section 120.54(5)(b)2., Florida Statutes. The meetings are being held to update the public for the purpose of regular business and COVID-19 updates. May’s public hearing will be held at 5:00 pm, as done previously and will be separately advertised as required. At such time the Board is so authorized and may consider any business that may properly come before it.
While it is necessary to hold the above referenced meetings of the District’s Board of Commissioners utilizing communications media technology due to the current COVID-19 public health emergency, the District fully encourages public participation in a safe and efficient manner. Toward that end, anyone wishing to listen and participate in the meeting can do so telephonically via Go to Meeting at https://www.gotomeet.me/SouthernManateeFireRescue/bocmeetings dialing in +1 (646) 749-3112 with an Access Code of: 222-700-733. Additionally, participants are encouraged to submit questions and comments to the Executive Management Assistant at least 48 hours prior to the meeting at email@example.com or call 941-751-7675 to facilitate the Board’s consideration of such questions and comments during the meeting.
A copy of the agenda may be obtained at the offices of the District (2451 Trailmate Dr, Sarasota FL 34342) during normal business hours or accessed on the District’s website, smfr.com.
The meeting is open to the public and will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of Florida law for independent special taxing districts. There may be occasions when the Board Commissioners or District Staff may participate by speaker telephone.

Each person who decides to appeal any decision made by the Board with respect to any matter considered at the Meetings is advised that person will need a record of proceedings and that accordingly, the person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which such appeal is to be based.
